The International Women's Association of Prague (IWAP) is a group of approximately 330 women from over 35 countries. The association is an independent, non-political and non-profit organization. IWAP is also a member of "Open Door", an international association of 70 groups throughout the world and WCI – Welcome Clubs International, an umbrella organization that unites over 30 women’s clubs through the world.
IWAP strives to create friendly forums to encourage members to broaden their social circles and to enhance their cultural experiences in Prague through our various organizations and activities. We regularly organize social events for our members and their partners. Our various interest groups include book clubs, bridge, beadwork, golf, photography, sewing, several language conversation groups, tennis, cooking, mah-jong, brunch and numerous other interest groups. Our members range from 20-70+ years old.
IWAP's purpose is to welcome women in and to the Czech Republic by promoting friendship among members and acquainting them with local culture by organizing various activities.
Since 1991, when the International Women's Association of Prague was founded, IWAP has provided significant financial and volunteer support to over 100 organizations in the Czech Republic. These include children in orphanages and foster homes; handicapped children homes; a hospice for terminally ill children; breast cancer awareness, prevention, treatment and support of disadvantaged and abused women.
