Founded in 1974, Equal Rights Advocates (ERA) is a leader among national women's legal organizations.  ERA envisions a world where women and girls from all walks of life have educational access and economic opportunities; workplace and employment equity; equal representation in leadership and management positions in the nonprofit, public, and private sectors; and work environments that help them achieve balance in their work and personal lives.

Equal Opportunity
ERA works to eradicate illegal discriminatory practices that deny women advancement opportunities, equal compensation, and access to certain occupations.

Respectful and Safe Treatment
ERA demands that employers provide women with a work environment that is free of sexual harassment and in compliance with health and safety laws.

Work and Family Balance
ERA enforces family and medical leave and pregnancy protection laws and is active in the effort to establish paid family and medical leave.

ERA maintains a toll-free Advice & Counseling hotline for legal information.  Individuals may call 800-839-4ERA.

Equal Rights Advocates is a nonprofit legal organization dedicated to protecting and expanding economic and educational access and opportunities for women and girls.

How will you let your organization know about International Women's Day?

ERA is hosting a special event on Tuesday, March 8th in recognition of International Women's Day featuring Rosa-Linda Fregoso, professor of Latin American & Latino Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz.  With Cynthia Bejarano, Professor Fregoso edited Terrorizing Women: Feminicide in the Americas, essays by feminist and human rights activists, attorneys, and scholars from Latin America and the United States, as well as testimonies by relatives of women who were disappeared or murdered.

The event will take place at ERA's office in San Francisco and include a reception beginning at 5:30 pm.

There is no cost to attend the event.

Invitations will be sent on January 25th via email and will also be featured in our monthly e-newsletters in February and March.
