Ruth

In the 20 years I've known her, Ruth has never failed to come to the aid of others, whether one on one, in church, in her neighborhood, or her community. She has participated financially in many organizations over the years, but she has also donated thousands of hours to her duties at her church and sitting on the boards of directors for a number of local organizations. Though there isn't room to name them all, here are a few: long-standing Board member and former Chair of the Board for Colorado Ballet; long-standing Board member of The Mental Health Assocation of Colorado, Denver Young Artists Orchestra, and Colorado Children's Chorale. An avid reader and former teacher, she has been a staunch supporter of local libraries and is a long-standing member of the Women's Library Assocation. Ruth has taken an active role in supporting women in the community and has contributed time, talents, and money to a wide spectrum of organizations. Some are focused on assisting women to build confidence, self-esteem, dignity, independence and self-sufficiency, like Women's Studies in Religion Program (through Harvard Divinity School) and The Enlighten Foundation. Some are more focused on the safety and physical well-being of women and families in crisis, such as Warren Village, Colorado Uplift, Safehouse, Denver Rescue Mission, and Food Bank of the Rockies. Ruth is also a huge advocate for education. A former Board member of Colorado Women's College (now part of The University of Denver-DU), she has also been active in supporting Brigham Young University (BYU), BYU-Hawaii, DU and University of Utah. Ruth is an "every day" person we should all try to emulate. She's a natural leader who does not seek the spotlight but continually seeks to do "the right thing" in every situation. She deserves this type of recognition and I would be proud to see her get it. Please contact me if you have any questions -- I could list more information but don't want to get too lengthy. I hope you'll give her serious consideration. Thanks!
