mary is a true union activist, she has been involved in political, labor, and community events all her life. as an active worker she participated in many elections as a precinct delegate, member of the democratice party of genesee county, and other political venues. she is active with uaw region 1-c women's council as a trustee, member of genesee county chapter of cluw (coalition of labor union women) as a trustee, and her uaw retiree chapter as a delegate (was voted as retiree delegate to the 35th uaw constitutional convention in detroit, michigan in june 2010) and the region 1-c regional retiree chapter as a delegate. she also, participates with her mother in the american legion working with veterans. she serves as usher at her church and cooks many meals there. she certainly deserves to be a candidate for this recognition in 2011. thank you for your consideration of sister mary simmons for 2011 international women's day outstanding service award.
