The above is marvelous, amazing and wonderful but here is the true reason I am nominating Dr. MacDonald. She has shown me the way to kindness and generosity by her example. She is unfailingly kind to everyone, she never puts anyone down despite her enormous talent and career, she is ready to help any storyteller who asks her. She shares herself and her work with the world.
As a newish teller, watching her in action, being the recipient of her wisdom and knowledge, had a huge impact on me. She modeled for me what a true Grand Dame is -
a person of integrity, kindness and generosity. I strive to be like her in my work as a performing artist/storyteller/speaker.
I am grateful to have this opportunity to thank her in this way - nominating her for this award!
