Debbie has made a difference in the lives of thousands of children! She is one of the most amazing teachers I have ever met. Debbie is a teacher who brought music to her students and her entire school and changed their lives! Debbie did not play an instrument and did not sing,yet she was inspired to bring music to her students. She learned to play guitar, began to sing, started a once a week sing along for the entire school. Spreading songs through out the school changed the culture of the school. Her own students each year learn so much through through song. I am always amazed when I visit her classroom and the children sing for me. They can remember more complex songs than I can and this at the age of 6 or so. Debbie has been a leader in her school, bringing artists in to work with students, starting an after school choir,continually expanding the musical and creative experiences for the students. Debbie also was instrumental in bringing curriculum of kindness to her school. She is always working to find more ways to help students and staff succeed. Even after 25 years her enthusiam and love of her work does not dim. Debbie is an unsung hero and deserves to be recognized for this award
