Cynthia

HELPING OTHERS HAS BEEN HER LIFELONG CAREER! When I first met Cynthia she was at a Tavis Smiley event, doing what she has been famous for her whole life -- volunteering her time to make sure that people get what they need... Later when we became friends watching her would amaze me, as she moved from one thing to the other selflessly filling her entire day by Chairing the Board of the HerShe Group, an organization dedicated to the successful transition of girls in "foster care" from adolescence to adulthood by exposing them to extraordinary experiences through the arts, mentorship, adventure, training and education, by coordinating events for Black Women for Wellness, an organization committed to healing, educating, and supporting "Black Women" of all ages and their families, be involved with her church as a member of The Living Word Liturgical Praise Dance Group which "ministers in dance" at First AME (Fame) in Los Angeles, and so much more... Cynthia is unstoppable... If you ever wanted to witness an example of a "community servant" who just absolutely never tires of giving of herself, Cynthia is the one! Not only does Cynthia blanket the city of Los Angeles with her caring and altruistic expertise, if you are around her for any length of time, she will get YOU involved as well! Recently Cynthia had ME teaching "meditation" to 4th and 5th graders as part of her community service work in public elementary schools. She did this through her very active membership in the "Links", an organization renowned for "giving back as a way of life" in whatever communities the members live or work in. A woman with more "energy and rive" than you would typically find in two or three people, Cynthia is a model of service and often a "role model" for everyone she meets, both young and old. A partial list of Cynthia's other community service work, past and present, includes: Southern California Special Olympics, Children of War (West Coast), Daniel Freeman Hospital Auxiliary and Daniel Freeman Hospital Board, The NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Project Heavy West, Black Women for Social Concern and the American Cancer Society... And, whatever she might decide to do next!
