I am nominating my lovely and talented niece, Ainsley Hilburn, who recently earned her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Mary Washington. She is now a third grade teacher in Oakton, VA - for a very lucky school! I say lucky, because Ainsley is a rare and dedicated young woman who will no doubt make a tremendous difference in the lives of her students. In this crazy world, I am proud of her for knowing exactly who she is, at such a young age. The name of her blog, "Be Still and Know," describes her philosophy on life. While at UMW, she worked tirelessly for Students Helping Honduras, a school organization started by a student who has lead trips to Honduras since 2004. With its mission to help stop poverty and domestic abuse in a squatter village there, Ainsley traveled to Honduras several times to help build a school and several homes. Her dedication to making a difference in the world did not begin in college however, it began in high school when she traveled with her church group to help build homes for Habitat for Humanity.
